Did you know that the global semiconductor industry reached record sales of $336 billion in 2014? Did you know that the U.S. semiconductor industry maintained market share leadership with 51 percent of the global market in 2014? Did you know that semiconductors were America’s third-leading manufactured export in 2014 behind only airplanes and automobiles? These facts and many others are now available in SIA’s 2015 Factbook. Below is an example of the type of data presented in the Factbook.
The Factbook presents a picture of the U.S. semiconductor industry and global market using data. Sections 1 and 2 of the 2015 Factbook, which focus on the global industry and market, are complete and available for download now. The data in these sections is updated through 2014, and most of the data is presented over a 20-year period, which gives the reader an accurate picture of long-term industry and market trends. Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the 2015 Factbook will focus on capital and R&D investment, jobs, and productivity, respectively, and will be released this summer.
The 2015 Factbook is the second annual factbook SIA has released and made available on its website. The complete 2014 Factbook is available here, and an SIA webinar explaining the 2014 Factbook and other industry data is available here.
